Star DE Jared Verse to enter the 2024 NFL Draft

He will not play in the Orange Bowl vs Georgia

Jared Verse is set to enter the 2024 NFL draft he announced on his twitter last week.

“I am filled with gratitude as I reflect on my time wearing the garnet and gold. Playing football for the Seminoles has been an extraordinary journey, one that has shaped me in ways words cannot capture. The support from the coaching staff, my teammates and the entire FSU community has been invaluable”

“Thank you, FSU, for being more than a team – you’ve been a family. I am proud to have worn the garnet and gold and hope to my Nole Family proud.”

The star defensive end transfer from the University of Albany played at FSU for two seasons and was an integral part of the defensive line. Over his two seasons at FSU, he racked up 88 total tackles, with 18 sacks and 1 forced fumble. Verse was brought in to replace Jermaine Johnson’s monster 2021 campaign, when he got drafted to the New York Jets.

Many fans did not believe Verse would make an immediate impact as he was transferring from a small FCS school and was not even ranked coming out of high school. That was far from the case, as in only the second game of his FSU tenure, he racked up two sacks and 3 tackles as well as blocking an extra point attempt in FSU’s 24-23 win over LSU in New Orleans. The doubters were silenced and they started to believe.

It leaves another star player that will not be participating in the Orange Bowl game. He joins the long list of opt outs including Trey Benson, Jaheim Bell, Johnny Wilson, and more.
