Seminoles get dominated in the 2023 Orange Bowl
MIAMI GARDENS, FL – It was a rough night for the Seminoles, which was not unexpected. Georgia gave FSU the worst loss in bowl game history with a 63-3 win. Both teams finish with a 13-1 record and will be looking towards to next season now.
For the first few drives, FSU looked like they might give the Bulldogs a hard time. On Georgia’s first drive, they were stopped short on a 4th and 3 and the Noles had momentum. The problem was that the offense could not muster a drive other than one long 55 yard throw to Kentron Poitier which resulted in 3. It was the only score FSU had the whole game.
After our one and only score of the night, FSU totally imploded on themselves, giving up 49 unanswered points throughout the rest of the game. Georgia scored 14 points in the span of a short 20 seconds after a muffed kickoff by Deuce Spann gave them good field position. By the end of the first half, it was already over. Going into the locker room, it was 42-3.
Brock Glenn had a few shining moments, throwing the one 53 yard catch to Poitier that was mentioned earlier in the article. Other than those flashes, he did not look good, going 9/26 with 2 interceptions. He is very raw and definitely needs another year of development under Mike Norvell. Glenn does have a high upside so we should not count him out just yet. FSU fans should hope to get either Cam Ward or DJ Uiagalelei in the transfer portal for next year.
The rush game was almost non-existent. Ja’Khi Douglas, who was moved back to running back in this game, had the most yards with 46. Caziah Holmes was second with 29 yards.
Georgia had a total of 673 yards. They were able to run and throw all over FSU’s defense. It was not a pretty game at all. Even after Georgia pulled their starters, they still scored 21 points to our 0.
While this loss leaves a sour taste in Seminole fans mouths, realize that this Georgia team had most of their starters playing and was won game away from being #1 in the college football playoff. They played against our 2nd and 3rd stringers who are not the same as our starters. This team will always be the 13-0 team that played throughout the regular season, and will be remembered in FSU history.
