Oregon State QB DJ Uiagalelei transferring to Florida State
DJ Uiagalelei has announced he is making the transfer from Oregon State to Florida State.
After announcing he was entering the transfer portal, on the 30th of November, DJ chose the Noles over the NFL draft. He is a graduate transfer and has one year left of eligibility.
The news came out after Cam Ward announced he was going to the NFL draft. The Noles were choosing between Ward and Uiagalelei and in the end, decided to stick with DJ.
DJ played at Oregon State for one season, throwing for 2,600 yards with 21 touchdowns. Before that, he was Clemson’s QB for three years, playing against the Noles in 2021 and 2022. He brought Clemson to a 10-3 record in 2021 and a 11-3 record in 2022 as well as an ACC championship. He threw for over 5,500 yards with 36 touchdowns over those three years. Coming out of high school, he was a 5 star prospect and the highest ranked Pro-Style QB.
He will most likely be the starting QB for the Noles next season, as FSU lost backup QB Tate Rodemaker to the portal and had to rely on true freshman Brock Glenn for the last two games of the season. They are also getting 4 star QB Luke Kromenhoek from the 2024 class.
He made a visit to Tallahasee on the 15th of December, the same weekend Cam Ward made his visit as well. After the visit, DJ said he was impressed with Mike Norvell and FSU. When talking about the coaches he said “They know football, they know X’s and O’s, they know schemes. They’re great people as well.”
Uiagalelei joins former Georgia DE Marvin Jones Jr. in the incoming transfer class for FSU.
