FSU Picks Up Their Second ACC Win Against Virginia Tech
FSU got their second ACC win and their eighth overall win with a 77-74 hard fought victory moments ago.
The game started off close, it was a back and forth battle in the first half. They were tied at 17 a piece with 7:49 left in the first, when Virginia Tech went on a 8-0 run to put them up 25-17. At the half, the Hookies lead 30-27.
After a Hunter Cattoor three pointer, Virginia Tech had their biggest lead of the night with a 9 lead with 15:53 left in the second half.
FSU retook the lead for the first time since early in the game in a stylish way. Cam Corhen had a monster dunk with 9:38 left in the second. The score was now 50-48. FSU did not look back. They completed a 14-0 run to put them up 55-48. FSU did not give up the lead against after the dunk.
The game did get close in the end. With 5 seconds left, it was tied 74 a peice after a Sean Pedulla free throw from VT. With 1 second left, VT fouled Primo Spears which gave him a shot to take the lead. Primo sunk both free throws to put them up 76-74 with only a second left to play. VT impediatley fouled again and Taylor Bol Bowen scored the last point to give the Noles a 77-74 win.
FSU is now on a two game win streak after their ugly loss to Lipscomb at home a week ago. Cam Corhen, Primo Spears, and Jaylan Gainey all had 11 points on the night. Cam went a perfect 5/5 from the paint and 1/1 from the line. He made every shot he took.
FSU shot a total 46% from the paint, 20% from three, and 62% from the free throw line. They had 8 dunks and 41 bench points.
FSU is now looking forwards to this Tuesday, where they will finish their 7 game home run against 11-3 Wake Forest. It will be on ACCN at 7:00 PM ET. The Demon Deacons are tied for #1 in the ACC.
