FSU Men’s Basketball Team Pulls Off Big Win Over (11-3) Wake Forest

It is a good day to be a Nole! FSU beats Wake Forest 87-82 in a great showing. The Seminoles are now on a 3-0 streak, all three wins coming against ACC opponents.

In the first minute of play, Wake Forest acted fast, making a 3 and a dunk putting them up 5-0. That did not last though as FSU was able to handle the adversity and go on a 12-2 run over 4 minutes of game time. FSU was leading 12-7 with 14:21 left in the first half.

FSU kept applying pressure, extending their lead to 10 with 7:54 left. They led 27-17 over the Demon Deacons. At the time, Wake Forest had not scored a field goal in 2:55 minutes of game time. It was looking as though FSU was poised to steal a win from under their nose.

Wake Forest did not allow FSU to take over however, as they fought back to take the lead again with 2:33 left. After a Kevin Miller jumper, Wake led 38-34. FSU was able to hit a few shots and they led going into half. The score going into the locker room was 42-41. The first half was a back and fourth matchup, with neither side keeping the lead. Both teams shot 47% for FGs, going 14-30.

To start the second half, FSU went on an astounding 14-0 run to put them up 13 points, which was their biggest lead of the game. They led 56-43 with 14:01 left.

Wake Forest clawed back once again, taking the lead with 6:19 left. For the final time of the night, FSU showed the Demon Deacons the door when they took the lead and did not look back. It was smooth sailing for the rest of the night. FSU won 87-82 once again.

Jamir Watkins and Darrin Green paved the way to victory. Watkins scored 19 points while Green scored 17. Baba Miller had a career high game, scoring 14 points. FSU is finding their groove and the chemistry between the players are at a season high.

This marks the first time the Noles won 3 in a row this season, and it was all against ACC opponents. Hamilton has seemed to found something that works. FSU now moves up to 3rd place, behind NC State and UNC. FSU moves to 9-6 on the year, and 3-1 in the conference.

FSU plays their next game against Notre Dame this Saturday, the 13th, at 2:15 PM.
