FSU In Early Talks Of Joining The Big 12 Conference
According to Ross Dellenger from Yahoo! Sports the Big 12 is in early conversations with FSU and Clemson about the possibility of joining the conference.
Of course it is very early in the talks as FSU and Clemson need to first get out of the ACC contract which has no timeline. Currently both FSU and Clemson have filed lawsuits against the ACC in an effort to leave the conference. This has been ongoing since December after FSU was snubbed from the playoffs.
The problem the Big 12 faces is how they’re going to pay FSU. As of right now, Big 12 schools make around 20 million less than Big 10 and SEC competition so they would have to find a way to pay FSU and Clemson more than the other Big 12 schools. This would probably be through unequal revenue sharing which would cause outrage from the current Big 12 schools. Another possibility would be paying them through private equity. Now I cannot comment too much on this topic as I do not have enough background on it but according to Sebastian Abernathy it would make FSU among the richest programs in all of college football.
Some notable Big 12 schools include UCF, Kansas State, Utah, Oklahoma State, and Kansas.
What do we think Noles fans? Do you want to join the Big 12, Big 10, or SEC? Only time will tell where we go.
