Florida State Lands Former LSU Playmaker Jalen Brown

Florida State just landed former LSU four-star wide receiver Jalen Brown. Brown, who stands at 6’2”, was heavily recruited by Florida State as part of the 2023 cycle but Brown ultimately decided to commit and sign with LSU.

Brown didn’t get much playing time in the 2023 season after sitting behind an elite LSU wide receiver core but looks to make an impact in a receiver room that needs depth. Brown is certainly a change of style for Nole fans as in the 2023 season we became accustomed to Keon Coleman and Johnny Wilson making big plays by winning jump balls with defenders. Jalen brings more of a speed and athletic dynamic to the Seminoles. He is fast, shifty, and can outrun defenders. His game is similar to former FSU WR Travis Rudolph.

Brown will provide much-needed depth to a wide receiving core that is losing both Keon Coleman and Johnny Wilson to the NFL draft. It will be interesting throughout the off-season to see how quickly he can form a connection with transfer quarterback DJ Uiagalelei and improve along with the rest of the wide receiving core that now features Brown and others such as Hykeem Williams, Destin Hill, and Kentron Poitier among others.

Jalen Brown is certainly a player to keep an eye on in spring camp as FSU looks to have open competition in several areas following a 13-1 season which saw the Noles become ACC champions for the first time since 2014. While many fans still believe that FSU should continue to add depth to the room, Jalen Brown will be potentially a dynamic piece to a young FSU wide receiver core.
